Originally established in 1983, the Illinois Foot Health Education Foundation (IFHEF), a 501(c)3 foundation, was revitalized in 2009 to encourage a heightened level of podiatric-health awareness by alerting and informing the public of foot and ankle conditions through the development, promotion and delivery of programs and materials related to the recognition, prevention and treatment of foot and ankle disorders.
Mission: The Illinois Foot Health Education Foundation exists to provide information on foot and ankle health, public education programs on health and wellness, conduct research on current medical issues in the podiatric field and form partnerships with organizations with a similar mission.
The IPMA, the parent organization for the IFHEF, has a history of successful public education programs that will spin-off to the IFHEF. These programs and partnerships include: Talk to a Podiatrist Call-In Day, Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, American Diabetes Association Diabetes Expo and a special program with Chicago Public Schools – the Keep Your Feet Moving walking program.
In addition, the Foundation is currently planning to develop continuing medical educational programs and research to further the knowledge and resources of the podiatric community.
